Panasonic announces Android Smart App smart home appliances and cloud services

Panasonic has announced the expansion of its lineup of smart home appliances such as air conditioners and refrigerators, to kitchen appliances and healthcare devices. Along side the company has also launched cloud-based services in Japan dedicated to its home appliances. Its not over, the company also launched an Android app to let you remotely operate appliances, view energy savings and program settings via NFC.
The new smart appliances include Panasonic’s X Series room air conditioners, a top-mount refrigerator (NR-F557XV), drum-type washer-dryers (NA-VX8200/NA-VT8200), as well as healthcare products such as the EW-FA43 body composition monitor, the EW-NK63 calorie meter and EW-BW53 blood pressure monitor. These appliances will be available in Japan from September 25. The new air conditioners will be internet-connected and can also be operated with iPhone as well as Android phones. iPhone cannot be used with other appliances as it lack of NFC. The home appliances will function with Sony’s proprietary FeliCa RFID technology and NTT DoCoMo’s Osaifu-Keitai. There is no information on international availability and pricing.
